Zara aims to pass on valuable experiences from their journey in filmmaking through these classes, which focus on building strong collaborations and challenging storytelling that can move us. The classes center on filmmaking from a queer-feminist and intersectional perspective, embracing the collective process of making a film rather than ego-centered approaches. FIND YOUR VISUAL LANGUAGE

This course addresses questions such as how to choose the right images for your film project, how to find your unique visual language, how to generate ideas and inspirations, and how to technically translate them into your image composition, as well as how others have approached it. The class highlights the works of female, queer-feminist, Black, and artists of color, including photographers, cinematographers, and filmmakers.

THE BEGINNINGS…

In this course, Zara shares their experiences from the journey of submitting their debut film and other projects for film funding and to production firms. From determining the right timing for each stage of a project—securing treatment funding, developing the screenplay, and finding the right production companies—Zara walks you through each step. Along the way, the course also covers essential do’s and how-to’s for collaborations, focusing on building strong team environments rooted in solidarity, mutual appreciation, and respect within intersectional teams, while emphasizing the importance of focusing on the creative process, networking, and interdependence.
